Box Score

San Antonio - Three Tiger track & field student-athletes earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year honors, while the Trinity coaching staff was selected as the men's and women's Staff of the Year.

Louie Montoto was the SCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year, while Bailey Drury was the SCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year.  Additionally, Nkolika Nweke was the Women's Newcomer of the Year in the conference.

Head Coach Marcus Whitehead led both teams to SCAC Championships this spring, and the Tiger staff also hosted the conference meet in San Antonio.  Coach Whitehead is helped by assistant coaches Emily Daum (also the Trinity Head Cross Country Coach), Thomas Dimitri, Kirk Shellhouse, Joe Meno, Todd Wildman, Casey Tibbs, and Jenn Whitehead.  The Trinity men's team won its third consecutive title, while the women reclaimed the title by a narrow 13-point margin.

Drury was the SCAC Female Athlete of the Meet at the conference event, scoring a championship-high 29 points.  She was the SCAC Champion in the 400 meter dash, and was part of the gold medal 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.  Drury earned additional All-SCAC recognition after finishing second in the 200 meter dash, and third in the 100 meter dash.  She earned three votes for Track Athlete of the Year.

Nweke swept both the 100 and 200 meter races, as well as joining Drury on the winning 4x100 meter relay team.  Nweke earned four of a possible five votes for Newcomer of the Year, setting Tiger records in both the 100 and 200, as well as in the relay.

Montoto was a unanimous selection for SCAC Male Athlete of the Year, earning All-SCAC honors in three events during the conference championship meet.  He was the league champion in the high jump, finishing second in the triple jump, and third in the long jump.

The Tiger men's third consecutive SCAC title marks the 10th in program history, while the women's second win in three seasons is the ninth in Trinity history.  The men's team earned 27 All-SCAC performances on its way to the title, while the Tiger women had 22 All-SCAC honorees.  Coach Whitehead is in his third season at the helm of the two programs.
