GEORGETOWN, Texas – Trinity University's track & field teams delivered outstanding performances at the CenTex Invitational, hosted by Southwestern University, posting multiple event wins, personal records, and top-10 program marks.
Relay Highlights
The men's 4x100 meter relay squad of Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek), Moises Lopez Guarnero (Mexico City, Mexico / TMI Episcopal), Ryan Forson ( / ), and Price Schultea (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Christian) secured third place with a time of 41.98, finishing as the top NCAA Division III team and just outside Trinity's all-time top 10. The women's 4x100 relay team of Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson), CC Gray (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep), Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela), and Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) claimed second place in 47.75, narrowly missing the school record of 47.70 set earlier this season.
The men's 4x400 relay squad of Schultea, William Regen (Deer Park, Texas / Deer Park), Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School), and Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) finished second in 3:19.55, placing 10th in program history. The women's 4x400 relay team of Gray, Lillian Broussard (Houston, Texas / National Christian), Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point), and Halle Hamilton ( / ) took first place in 4:00.97.
Record-Breaking Performances
In the women's 800 meters, Smith shattered the school record, winning in 2:17.34. She broke the previous mark set by Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) in 2022. Hamilton finished third (2:18.82), ranking sixth in program history, and Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) placed fourth (2:19.80), slotting in at 10th all-time.
Selber dominated the women's 100-meter hurdles, winning in 14.96, moving to second in school history, just behind the 2019 record of 14.84 set by Abigail Bannon-Schneebeck.
In the men's 1500 meters, Thomas Melina-Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum) won in 3:58.65, a personal best that ranks 10th in Trinity history. Kyle Fix (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) (4:03.73), Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) (4:08.07), and Dashiell Browne (Lantana, Texas / Guyer) (4:12.71) also set personal records.
Sprint & Mid-Distance Excellence
Grigsby had an impressive meet, finishing second in both the 100 meters (10.87) and 200 meters (22.03), the latter just 0.01 seconds off Trinity's top 10. Schultea took fourth in the 200 meters (22.07), while Forson placed ninth (22.53).
Gray was third in the women's 400 meters, clocking 57.72 as the top D-III finisher. Broussard followed in fifth (1:00.24), ranking second among D-III athletes. Ladreyt posted a personal best of 48.78 in the men's 400 meters, placing fourth and moving to fifth in school history.
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) won the men's 800 meters in 1:55.99, finishing just three seconds off his own Trinity No. 2 all-time mark. Sebastian Langer (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) placed second (1:56.34), and Gallagher was seventh (1:59.23).
Distance Dominance
Charlotte Martin (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) claimed victory in the women's 5000 meters (18:32.31), while Anne Snider (Waco, Texas / Live Oak Classical) (6th, 19:12.55), Kate Boone (Temple, Texas / Holy Trinity Catholic) (8th, 19:26.93), and Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) (9th, 19:29.02) also placed in the top 10.
For the men, Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) took fourth in the 5000 meters (15:20.18), followed by Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) in fifth (15:23.15) and Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) in 10th (15:44.53).
Field Event Success
Pierce Jackson (Addison, Texas / Dallas Jesuit) delivered a standout performance in the javelin throw, winning with a personal best of 60.02 meters. He now ranks second all-time at Trinity, trailing only Chris Baer's 62.55-meter record from 2008. Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) placed third in the women's javelin (31.98 meters), while Demi Durham (Parker, Ariz. / Parker) was sixth (28.19 meters).
In the shot put, Aaron Chang (Fullerton, Calif. / Valley Christian) finished second (13.41 meters), and Xae Huerta (San Antonio, Texas / Jay) set a personal best (13.28 meters) to place third. On the women's side, Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) took third (10.67 meters), followed by Seabolt in fourth (10.48 meters).
Chang also recorded a personal best in the hammer throw, finishing third with 41.50 meters and remaining fifth in school history. Huerta placed fourth (41.05 meters), ranking sixth all-time at Trinity.
In jumps, Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian) won the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.93 meters, while Emillie Mireles (Brownsville, Texas / Hanna Early College) placed third (9.97 meters). Lanik was second in the long jump (5.54 meters), ranking fifth all-time at Trinity, with Areola finishing third (5.49 meters).
Andrew Mueller ( / ) tied for fourth in the men's high jump (1.90 meters) and placed fifth in the long jump (6.35 meters). Kaleem Howard (Jacksboro, Texas / Jacksboro) finished seventh in the long jump (6.24 meters) and won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.42.
Looking Ahead
With multiple personal records, all-time top 10 performances, and school records set at the CenTex Invitational, the Tigers will look to carry this momentum into their next outdoor meet, which will be at the Charles Austin Classic, hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, on Friday, March 21. The NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships will be Friday-Saturday, March 14-15 in Rochester, N.Y., with official announcements coming next week.
