SAN ANTONIO — Trinity's track & field team continued what has been a very strong season on day two of the Trinity Invitational. The Tigers moved up on the school's all-time lists and recorded nation-leading times in multiple events.
Moving Up on the Relay Lists
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of
Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson),
CC Gray (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep),
Danya Selber (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) and
Annabelle Lanik (Sugar Land, Texas / St. John's) started the day's festivities with a win, running 48.19 to take first place. The men's 4x100-meter squad of
Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek),
Moises Lopez Guarnero (Mexico City, Mexico / TMI Episcopal),
Ryan Forson ( / ) and
Price Schultea (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Christian) took fourth place with a time of 41.88.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of
Annette Smith (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point),
Lillian Broussard (Houston, Texas / National Christian),
Halle Hamilton ( / ) and Gray took a commanding 3-second win, posting a time of 3:56.75. Their time moves them to sixth on Trinity's all-time list. The men's 4x400-meter relay of
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School), Forson,
Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) and Schultea took fourth, posting a time of 3:15.17 for second on Trinity's all-time list. They also move to fourth on the Divison III outdoor national list.
Up and Over
Kaleem Howard (Jacksboro, Texas / Jacksboro) took third place in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.46.
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) followed close behind, finishing seventh in 15.83.
Selber took second in the women's 400-meter hurdles, running a new personal record of 1:05.04. The time moves her up a spot to eighth on Trinity's all-time list. Howard doubled back to set a personal record in the men's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 57.69.
Jacob Rosenberg (San Antonio, Texas / Health Careers) also set a new personal record with a time of 1:04.72.
Top Times in the Sprints
Nia Scott (Dickinson, Texas / Dickinson) took sixth in the women's 100-meter dash in 12.53, while Grigsby took seventh in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.88.
Lanik took third in the women's 200-meter dash in 25.18. Forson led the way for the Tigers in the men's 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 22.50.
Gray took fourth in the women's 400-meter dash in a time of 57.58, followed closely by Broussard in a personal record of 59.62 for her first time under 60 seconds. Ladreyt set a personal record in the men's 400-meter dash, taking fifth in 48.59 to keep his spot at fifth on the Trinity all-time list. Schultea followed him up with a time of 48.91.
Mid-Distance Moves up on All-Time List
Smith lowered her school record in the women's 800-meter dash, posting a time of 2:15.35 to take the win.
Emerson Voldan (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Summit) also set a personal record, clocking a time of 2:17.75 to take third and move into second on Trinity's all-time list. Smith has now lowered the school record by almost three seconds since the beginning of the season.
The Tigers had four athletes run 1:55 or lower in the men's 800-meter dash, led by
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) and his 1:53.11 for fourth place.
Thomas Melina Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum) took fifth place in 1:53.16, moving him to fourth on Trinity's all-time list.
Kyle Fix followed in 1:54.79 for sixth, good for eighth on the all-time list.
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) rounded out the first heat's strong showing with a 1:55.98 in his 800-meter season debut. Gallagher and
Jesus Rojas (Houston, Texas / Ridge Point) both set personal records as well, clocking 1:56.04 and 1:57.34, respectively.
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) led five Tigers into the top 10 in the women's 1500-meter, posting a time of 4:48.78.
Cali Good (Yucaipa, Calif. / Yucaipa) and
Stephanie Suarez (Harlingen, Texas / Harlingen) were the two in the group who set personal records, running 4:56.58 and 5:01.77, respectively.
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) led the way for the Tigers in the men's 1500-meter, setting a personal record of 4:06.88.
The Tigers took wins in both the women's and men's 3000-meter steeplechase as
Ellie Catron (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands Christian) took the women's race in 11:40.78 with a nearly 20-second win.
Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) won the men's race in 9:58.63, his season debut in the race in which he holds the school record.
Areola one of the Nation's Best in the Triple Jump
Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian) took second in the women's triple jump in 11.96m, moving her into second on the Divison III outdoor list.
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) followed her up in fourth place with a jump of 10.93m.
Higher, Farther
Madeleine Seabolt (San Diego, Calif. / Mt. Carmel) led the Tigers in the women's javelin throw, throwing 27.51m for 13th place. She was followed in 14th place by
Demi Durham (Parker, Ariz. / Parker) who threw 26.96m.
Pierce Jackson (Addison, Texas / Dallas Jesuit) took first in the men's javelin throw with a toss of 53.40m. He remains undefeated in the javelin so far this season.
Seabolt took eighth in the women's discus throw in 34.52m, followed by
Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) in ninth with a throw of 34.42m. Bell also took ninth in the women's hammer throw in 42.50m.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will head to San Angelo for the David Noble Relays hosted by San Angelo State University next Friday, April 4th. It will be the team's penultimate meet before heading to the SCAC Championships at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin from April 25-27.
